Are you looking for Traditional Table Lamps? Welcome to traditionaltablelamps.net for all your table lighting requirements.

Traditional Table Lamps can add elegance to any room or office, as well as functionality. The way you light a room sets the mood for that room so it is very important that you get it right.

A table lamp can add an accent to a room, lighten up any dark spots, or be an aid to help you when you are sat reading or sat doing a hobby. During the day time a traditional table lamp can add to the overall furnished look of the room.

When choosing a table lamp it is best to choose a lamp which will suit both the look of the room, and do the job you intend it to do. The size of the lamp should be in proportion to the space you want it to fill. Obviously if you have a large room then a larger lamp will sit well but could look over powering if you put it into a small room. There are many different styles of traditional table lamps, in many different sizes, so you should not have too much trouble finding the right one for you.

A table lamp consists of 3 elements - the base, the shade and the light bulb you put into it.

The Base: Traditional Table Lamps can have a wooden, metal, marble, crystal or ceramic bases. Antique brass and bronze are very popular bases for traditional lamps.

The Shade: This can be made of fabric or glass.

The Light bulb: The shape of the light bulb should be determined by the style of the lamp.

The price of a traditional table lamp will be dictated by its size, its design and the material it is made from. When buying, bear in mind that a good quality traditional table lamp will last and look good for many years, regardless of the amount of use it gets.

When trying to decide which style of traditional table lamp you should choose personal taste will obviously play a large part in your decision - it's no good having a lamp which looks stunning in your room but you cannot stand the sight of it!  However you should also take into consideration the style your room is furnished in and make sure that the lamp harmonises with it.

If you talk about traditional table lamps with a lot of people they will immediately think of  Tiffany Lamps. This has almost become a generic term for any lamp with a metal base and a leaded glass lamp shade. Tiffany Lamps were manufactured by Louis Comfort Tiffany in America. He was an artist who created the glass shades using geometrical or floral designs. Original Tiffany lamps are highly collectible and expensive however modern reproductions are both readily available and affordable.

Many of the classic designs for table lamps are still being reproduced, for example the Wagenfeld Table Lamp from 1924, but there are now many "modern" traditional table lamps being produced.

Once you have chosen your ideal lamp you need to give some consideration to which wattage light bulb to use. Using too bright a bulb can destroy the ambient effect you are trying to achieve, but if the light is to be used to read by then it should not be too dim.

Whilst traditional light bulbs have come for many years in different shapes suitable for table lamps, low energy light bulbs have been too bulky to be really suitable for many styles of  table lamp. However all that is changing and you can now get low energy bulbs in many shapes. Whilst initially they may cost more than a traditional bulb they will last much longer and will save on electricity costs. The quality of light they now give off is also softer than the earlier versions.
